Artist Summary

Richard Denyer worked for twenty years as a freelance photographer for a mix of clients including Norwich Union, The BBC, Radio Times, The Sunday Times, Frogmore Estates, The Sunday Telegraph, The Guardian, British Rail and The Broads Authority. His work has been published and exhibited widely in the UK and abroad.

Richard has also worked as a tutor in practical photography and then in the history and culture of the medium. In 2003 he curated a major exhibition, A Period Eye: Photography Then and Now, at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery. The show included a selection of early photographic work from the 1850s and 1860s held in the Eaton and Colman Collection at The Norwich Millennium Heritage Library, as well as new work in response to the archives commissioned from Richard Billingham, Sarah Jones and Cornford and Cross.

Richard established the MA Photographic Studies programme at Norwich University College of the Arts (NUCA) and was course leader between 2003 and 2005. Between 2005 and 2010 he was Business Development Manager at NUCA, and returned to his photographic practice in July 2010.
